Finding a job with flexible hours can be a godsend when you’re going to school, raising children, or if you’re looking to boosts your income.
These might not be your dream jobs, but they’re great for when you’re pursuing your bigger and better future.
These are the top 5 jobs with flexible hours and scheduling in 2024:
1. Bartending / Serving
Don’t underestimate the income potential of this flexible job. Bartenders and servers can make $100 to $400 per night in just tips alone, depending on location and popularity of the restaurant or club. So, don’t be scared away by a low hourly wage on job listings.
This is a great gig for people who like sleeping in, staying up late, and partying creating a fun and entertaining atmosphere.
Most work part-time nights and weekends, but every once in a while, you can score a day shift.
2. Taxi Driver
Don’t forget about local, or non-gig companies. While Uber and Lyft are great for choosing your own hours, local companies might have better working terms and conditions, and you don’t have to use your own vehicle.
Taxi drivers are great for snowbirds and people with irregular schedules.
Taxi drivers also make tips, so keep that in mind when considering it for your next side hustle.
3. Group Homes
Group home employees caretake people with mental disabilities. They are always looking for reliable employees, so you can probably score one of these jobs right away, if needed.
Many people enjoy this type of work because it doesn’t feel like a “normal” job. Running errands, partaking in recreational activities, and helping out with daily cooking and cleaning are some of the tasks you can expect to be doing with your clients.
This can be a very rewarding job, too, as it’s a service that is truly needed in society.
This role would be a good fit for somebody with patience and compassion.
They pay anywhere from $15-24 depending on the company and your location.
4. Sales Representative
Retail Sales Representatives work a variety of shifts, often nights and weekends. If there are commissions to be made, it can be a lucrative job for someone who can read people, their needs, and suggest solutions in a convincing manner.
Don’t confuse Sales Representatives with Customer Service Representatives or Sales Associate. Many companies use these titles interchangeably, and a Sales Associate job at, say, a retail store in the mall is going to pay significantly less than a job that earns commissions.
Lots of different businesses hire sales reps–car dealerships, food and drink vendors–so be sure to check the job boards.
The average sales rep earns about 50k per year, so part-timers will earn closer to 25k per year.
5. Housekeeping Vacation Rentals
Vacation rental housekeeping is in demand and can be a great job for people available on weekend mornings. A good housekeeper can earn between $20 and $40 per hour.
There are middle-man companies where you can list your services, like Housekeeper.com, but the downside to these companies is that anyone can make an account and make a listing. It’s the bare minimum.
If you really want to stand out and find local clients, post on social media, ask friends and family if they know anyone with a vacation rental that needs cleaning services, and post an ad on Craigslist or Facebook. This gives you more control over your wage and terms, too.
This can be a nice option for someone who wants to start their own business, or who already has a day job.
That wraps it up for the top 5 flexible jobs for 2024.
